Learning Centers

The Learning Center

Randolph’s Learning Center supports students with diagnosed learning differences by working closely with teachers, families, and administrators to coordinate classroom and testing accommodations.

Our Vision for Every Learner

Through our system of supports and dedicated staff, we work to help students understand themselves as learners, recognize their strengths, and build the skills, confidence, and self-awareness they need to navigate challenges, embrace growth, and reach their full potential.

Our Approach

We strive to help students understand themselves as learners, recognize their strengths, and build the skills, confidence, and self-awareness they need to navigate challenges, embrace growth, and reach their full potential.

Students with learning differences can be highly successful in our college preparatory environment when provided with appropriate support and when families and school maintain open, ongoing communication.

Academic Support

Aligning with the mission of Randolph School, the Academic Support Programs provide access to individual and small group assistance, strategies for learning success, and accommodations for students with documented learning differences.

At Randolph, we understand that it is not always immediately evident when a student is experiencing academic challenges or the factors contributing to those difficulties. Our objective is to identify learning needs at the earliest possible stage, enabling us to implement targeted support and prevent significant gaps in achievement.

By developing a comprehensive understanding of each student’s strengths and areas for growth, we can collaborate with families to ensure every child is positioned for sustained academic success.

To accurately understand a student’s learning profile and provide accommodations through the learning center, Randolph requires a formal psychoeducational assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist.

Services

The Divisional Learning Specialist will develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that includes relevant testing information, diagnosis, educational impact statements, and accommodations based on the recommendations outlined in the Psychoeducational Report. An Accommodation Plan, including educational impact statements and recommended accommodations, is also shared with classroom teachers and the student support team to ensure that each student’s learning needs are understood and appropriately supported across the school environment.

The Divisional Learning Specialist maintains the student’s testing information, completed ILP, and Accommodation Plan within the Learning Center. Learning Specialists meet annually with classroom teachers to review each student’s Accommodation Plan, discuss educational impacts, and ensure that support is clearly understood and appropriately implemented. Throughout the school year, Learning Specialists continue to collaborate with teachers, students, and families as needed to monitor progress, adjust supports, and help each student build the skills and confidence needed to navigate challenges and reach their full potential.

Accommodations

Learning Accommodations

Accommodations are tools and procedures that remove barriers and provide equal access to instruction and assessments to students with learning differences. Accommodations may be provided for students with comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations completed by credentialed practitioners within three years.

Short-Term Accommodations

The Learning Center understands scheduling and completing testing can take time, we are able to implement a one-year provisional Individual Accommodation Plan with a diagnosis and recommended accommodations from a pediatrician or other physician.

Accommodation Approval Process

Accommodations are determined based on a student’s psychoeducational evaluation findings. The Upper School Accommodation Committee determines and approves what accommodations are appropriate for each student (based on diagnoses) to achieve educational equity. Students, parents, and teachers are all notified of the approved accommodations.

Learning Specialist

The Learning Specialist is responsible for the review and supervision of the approved accommodations.
